The Emerson Fellowship, StandWithUs’ flagship programme, invites you to be a part of Israel’s success story in this life-changing experience.
The StandWithUs UK Emerson Fellowship is a prestigious one-year programme that empowers and inspires pro-Israel student leaders at universities throughout the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Brazil. The programme provides tools, develops professional skills and extensive, in-depth, knowledge about Israel and the Jewish people.
Selected from the top universities in the UK, student leaders form a pro-Israel network which inspires their peers and collaborates with other student groups to run effective educational events about Israel.
Through the programme, StandWithUs UK Emerson Fellows receive extensive training and mentorship, they will deepen their education and develop a unique skillset: critical thinking, public speaking, the practicalities of event-planning, investigative journalism and digital marketing – all with the professional support of qualified SWU staff.
During the programme, selected students will take part in the Emerson Fellowship International Conference, Los Angeles, U.S.A., where they will meet with their counterparts around the world.
Following the events of October 7th the campus situation has intensified and antisemitism and anti-Israel bias have reached new heights. Emerson fellows have been front and centre in countering disinformation and antisemitism regarding Israel. They have performed a vital duty and have emerged as leadership figures at this crucial junction.
The need for Emerson Fellows has never been greater to inspire and create the future of Israel advocacy on UK campuses.
Graduates will be inducted into the StandWithUs Emerson Fellowship Alumni Network, through which they will stay connected to each other and to StandWithUs while continuing their activism.
The StandWithUs UK opening conference connects UK Emerson Fellows to our wider community and allows students to get to grips with creating successful events, security procedures, communication strategies and the foundations of Israel education. An opening ceremony at the Israeli Ambassador’s residence concludes the conference in preparation for the academic year.
Six Professional Development Sessions throughout the academic year make use of a blended method of in-person and online sessions. The intimate meetings provide opportunities for students to enhance their skills by learning from StandWithUs experts and prominent speakers.
As part of the Fellowship, selected UK Emerson Fellows travel to Los Angeles to take part in the StandWithUs International Conference, building connections with future leaders from Europe, North and South America, Asia and across the StandWithUs international organisation. The conference inspires a diverse, global network of hundreds of students and alumni with a passion for Israel's story.
Emerson fellows are privileged to benefit from exclusive opportunities throughout the year. Emerson Fellows are recognised as campus disruptors and the leaders of tomorrow. Previous cohorts have been invited to speak in Parliament and diplomatic institutions. Emerson Fellows also benefit from speakers and partnerships of the StandWithUs network.

Fellows will negotiate their goals with StandWithUs UK staff at the start of the programme.
Fellows must attend six monthly professional development sessions throughout the year.
Fellows must attend a mandatory induction conference
Upon successful completion of the fellowship, participants will receive a stipend.

The work I’ve done and the growth I’ve achieved so far have been transformative. I am committed to applying everything I’ve learned to make the most of this opportunity. While I did face some opposition and criticism, the preparation and knowledge I received from StandWithUs left me feeling prepared to stand my ground.
Since beginning this fellowship, my knowledge and confidence to speak about Israel has grown significantly and this is something I am incredibly proud of. I aim to be as equipped as possible to achieve two key aims to share the benefit that I have gained from partaking in the Fellowship: to educate those interested to advocate for Israel on campus, and to combat misinformation about Israel held by the wider student community.

As a non - Jew, my knowledge of antisemitism in Britain prior to October 7th was extremely limited. Working with StandWithUs has opened my eyes to the work that needs to be done. It has been a life changing experience and one I recommend to anyone regardless of their background.
