Last year, the President of the University of Toronto’s Faculty Association (UTFA), Terezia Zoric, accused an “entitled powerful Zionist minority” of conducting “psychological warfare” on the UofT campus. Following an outcry from Jewish students and members of the Jewish community she later apologized for those comments.
Unfortunately, some things don’t change with the leadership of this association.
Recently, UTFA’s Vice-President for University and External Affairs, Jeffery Bale, liked a Tweet in which the original poster wrote: “By age 30 you should be an anti-zionist” (sic).
Hillel UofT, StandWithUs Canada, and Hasbara Canada are deeply concerned by this latest example of UTFA leadership using their platform to intimidate members of the Jewish community on campus.
Please take a moment to tell the UTFA to stop their antisemitic rhetoric against Jewish students and to undergo antisemitism education with a mainstream Jewish community trainer. You can reach the UTFA at: faculty@utfa.org
In the interest of best protecting Jewish students, we encourage members of the community to keep their emails focused on the issues above, and to keep their tone respectful.
