StandWithUs Urges Action in Washington State, Bellevue School District, for Ignoring Antisemitism in Violation of District Policy and State Law

In April 2024, StandWithUs contacted the Bellevue School District in Washington State about increasingly antisemitic incidents at their schools and the District’s ongoing failure to remedy the hostile environment, particularly after October 7. Although the District promptly opened an official investigation and hired an independent investigator to look into the allegations of antisemitism, the District failed to meet any state or federally mandated deadlines or to explain its delays. The District further failed to take any interim actions to protect Jewish and Israeli students in the new school year and remedy the hostile environment.

On September 24, 2024, StandWithUs wrote to the District’s attorney noting the District’s clear violation of its own policies and to inquire whether this deliberate inaction means StandWithUs and the families must escalate the matter through other legal channels.

The District's attorney responded within four minutes of our sending the letter, abdicating any responsibility and not indicating they would take action in response.
