StandWithUs Saidoff Legal Department jointly filed an amicus brief in the US Supreme Court on February 4, 2025, arguing that when organizations support terrorism against Americans and participate in the "pay-for-slay" program by rewarding terrorists' families financially, they should be held accountable in US courts. The petitioner is an American murdered by a Palestinian terrorist. In 2019, Congress passed the Promoting Security and Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act which allowed victims of terrorist attacks abroad to sue if groups like the PLO participated in the "pay-for-slay" program. The Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled the law violated due process because the PLO had insufficient ties to the US. The amicus brief urges the Supreme Court to reverse that Second Circuit decision and hold the PLO accountable in United States courts. StandWithUs expresses tremendous gratitude to the law firms of Holtzman Vogel Baran Torchinsky & Josefiak PLLC and Haynes and Boone, LLP, which represented the amici and played an instrumental role in drafting and filing the amicus brief.
