StandWithUs condemns the recent campaigns of terrorism that have targeted the Hindu community in Spanish Fork, Utah. As Hinduphobia becomes an increasingly concerning problem throughout the United States, both in terms of number and severity of incidents, StandWithUs urges local leadership and law enforcement to take all necessary steps to protect the Hindu community and its religious institutions.
According to reports , the Krishna Temple has now been attacked with thirty gunshots over the course of three incidents throughout the last month, causing damage to the facility. Worshippers and guests were in the sanctuary as the traumatic events unfolded.
Too often, hate and misinformation lead to violent action against the Hindu and Jewish communities. StandWithUs extends its heartfelt support to the Hindu community following these attacks, which are tragically reminiscent of recent deadly terrorist attacks against Jewish communities in Washington D.C. and Boulder, Colorado. Amidst the continuing rise of antisemitism and Hinduphobia both nationwide and around the world, StandWithUs reaffirms its commitment to education as the key to peace and better intercultural understanding and implores the U.S. and all other pluralistic democracies to take swift and adequate action to ensure better protection against discrimination based on religion and national-origin.
