The letter asks the Chancellor and Union President to remind K-12 teachers of the legal framework governing teacher speech and conduct and potential threats to students’ rights. It  clarifies the clear lines that teachers may not cross, including actively imposing their personal views on their students, presenting one-sided information about controversial issues, and misleading families with their positions as union members and Department of Education teachers. Such conduct would likely violate students’ rights.
