Tell Audible: Audiobook Narrators That Post “Zionists to Kill Themselves” Online Should Not Have a Platform

HELP US:

Contact and urge Audible to reject audiobook narrators who urge Zionists to kill themselves!

A bestselling author has created a major controversy by rehiring Zachary Webber to narrate the audiobook for a recent romance novel. The author did so despite Webber’s record of spreading hate online, including a video saying “If you’re a Zionist… go f–ing kill yourself.” Fill out the form on this page to urge Audible to work with the author to replace the narrator, or remove “The Night We Met” audiobook from its platform.

No author, publisher, or audiobook platform should work with a narrator who has repeatedly engaged in hateful rhetoric — especially when the books in question aim to champion diversity and inclusion.

There are many talented audiobook narrators who have not promoted harmful language, conspiracy theories, or rhetoric rooted in blood libel tropes about Jews and Zionists. The author was made aware of Webber’s hateful record and tried a different narrator, but chose to rehire Webber instead of looking for other qualified professionals.

Would this decision have been made if the narrator had spread hate about another minority community? We doubt it.

While the author made a bad choice, Audible is not required to promote the audiobook under these circumstances.

Our ask is simple: If the narrator is not replaced, Audible should remove the audiobook from its platform.

Audible has publicly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. These standards must apply to everyone — including Jews and Zionists.
