StandWithUs Canada is a non-partisan Israel education organization that inspires and educates people of all ages and backgrounds about Israel, challenges misinformation and fights antisemitism.
The Research Associate will be responsible for monitoring trends, identifying misinformation, and developing accurate, evidence-based educational materials to support students and community members across Canada. The ultimate goal of this position is to ensure that StandWithUs Canada’s educational content, resources, and messaging are factual, current, strategic, and responsive to the rapidly evolving landscape surrounding Israel and antisemitism.
This role will focus primarily on research, resource development, and educational content creation. The Research Associate will track antisemitism and anti-Israel activity across campuses and communities, identify emerging narratives, and translate complex information into clear, accessible, and strategically useful materials for staff, students, and partners.
The successful candidate will work directly with the Executive Director and collaborate with all departments, including Campus, High School, Community, Legal and Digital Strategy & Communications, to ensure all materials are accurate and aligned with organizational priorities.
This position is suited for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and passionate about ensuring historically accurate education about the Jewish people and Israel. The role provides an opportunity to develop professional skills in independent research, fact-checking, educational writing, content development, and narrative analysis. This position will report directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
Research & Trend Monitoring
Monitor incidents of antisemitism and anti-Israel activity across campuses and communities, including reviewing internal reporting systems and external developments.
Monitor and analyze national and campus-based anti-Israel group activity, including leadership structures, programming, campaigns, and coordination efforts across institutions.
Identify misinformation trends, emerging narratives, and gaps in existing educational materials.
Conduct in-depth research on relevant topics and compile verified examples, data, and source material.
Maintain organized internal research files and background documents for organizational use.
Educational Resource Development
Draft, update, and refine educational materials including factsheets, toolkits, program guides, briefing documents, and backgrounders.
Regularly review existing StandWithUs Canada resources to ensure accuracy, relevance, and strategic effectiveness.
Translate complex research into clear, accessible, and usable content for students and community members.
Support the development of proactive educational campaigns through research and content creation.
Responsive Content Support
Provide research support for organizational responses to incidents of antisemitism or anti-Israel activity.
Draft research-based talking points, background briefs, and educational materials to support strategic responses.
Social Media Research Support
Draft and fact-check research-based educational social media content.
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure posts are accurate, evidence-based, and aligned with organizational goals.
Collaboration & Internal Support
Serve as a resource for staff seeking fact-checking, sourcing, or background information.
Provide research input on cross-departmental initiatives, campaigns, and projects.
Maintain consistent and professional communication across departments.
Qualifications
University degree required. Focus in international studies, political science, history, communications, or related field preferred but not required.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information clearly and accurately.
Deep interest in Israel, Jewish history, and contemporary antisemitism.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to factual accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office and internet applications.
