StandWithUs Northern California joins JCRC Bay Area, elected officials, and people of conscience across Northern California in demanding the immediate resignation of Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez. 

During his tenure, Martinez has consistently used his position to attack the Jewish community in Richmond by promulgating deeply antisemitic City Council resolutions and spreading conspiracy theories that echo discredited lies and blood libels about Israel and the Jewish people. He also openly celebrated the October 7 mass murder carried out by Hamas in Israel, the greatest massacre of Jews since the end of the Holocaust. In the wake of the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Australia targeting the Jewish community while they were celebrating the first night of Hanukkah, where 15 Jews were murdered and many others were injured, Martinez went on social media to blame Israel and the Jewish people for the attack. 

Martinez has openly and proudly displayed his antisemitism throughout his tenure in office. We stand with members of Richmond’s Jewish community and others from different ethnic and religious backgrounds across the Bay Area in calling for Martinez to resign. Please contact the Richmond City Council members to show your concern for Mayor Martinez’s irresponsible, hateful rhetoric by demanding that Council members condemn the Mayor’s comments and that Eduardo Martinez resign immediately.
