TENTH ANNUAL DANIEL PEARL WORLD MUSIC DAYS TO BE HELD OCTOBER 1-31, 2012

Dear Friends of StandWithUs,
We write to call your attention to a unique and powerful opportunity to make our voice resonate with many communities around the world.
Our office in Los Angeles has a close relationship with Ruth and Judea Pearl, who are the parents of Daniel Pearl, and who have formed the Daniel Pearl Foundation to promote his ideals and to roll back the hatred that took his life.
As you already know, Daniel Pearl was the Wall Street Journal Bureau Chief who was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. He was also a talented violinist who used the power of music to communicate friendship and Tikun Olam across verbal and cultural divides.
Every year since 2002, the Daniel Pearl World Music Days take place on and around Danny's birthday of October 10 all over the world. Music Days involve hundreds of musical happenings and concerts at which dedications are made to the ideals for which Danny stood, and against the culture of terror and hate. Last year, over 1,700 events in 84 countries took part in this global concert.
We urge you to take advantage of this initiative this year, October 1 to 31, 2012 , and use it as an instrument to unite, inspire, expand membership, and reach out to neighboring organizations. Participation is extremely easy, and requires merely that a song, prayer, Hakafa, musical performance or a whole concert be dedicated to the ideal of a hate-free world, and register it with the Daniel Pearl Foundation.
Any meeting that includes a musical component can serve the purpose. The website for registration and information is www.danielpearlmusicdays.org.
Friends,
All indications are that Fall 2012 will present unusually tough challenges for groups who support Israel and who wish to do so openly and assertively in increasingly hostile environment. Music days enables us to rally behind the legacy of a Jewish American journalist who became an icon of universal humanistic values and, at the same time, a symbol of Jewish pride, American pride, love of Israel and unchallenged indictment of Islamic terrorism.
Music Days events can also act as catalysts in forming lasting alliances between Jewish with non-Jewish communities, especially on college campuses. Groups which are normally critical of US and Israel tend to forgo differences and rally behind the values that the Daniel Pearl Music Days symbolize. This year, in the wake of the September circus at the UN, this symbol has become even more empowering and uniting to people of conscience.
