A proud moment as StandWithUs UK chairman presents an SWU Remember the 11 athletes T shirt to Ilano Romano, the widow of weightlifter and weightlifting coach Yoseph Romano, one of the 11 Israelis massacred by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Olympic Games.  Ilana, together with Ankie Spitzer, widow of fencing coach Andre Spitzer, have been in the UK lobbying International Olympic Committee president Jaques Rogge for a one minue silence at the Olympics pulled no punches and received standing ovations when Ankie told Jaques Rogge “Shame on you, IOC. You have foresaken the 11 members of your Olympic family. You are against them only because they are Israelis and Jews.”

Ilana told him "Today, you submitted to terrorism.  “You will be written down on the pages of history as a former athlete who became a president who violated the Olympic charter that calls for brotherhood, friendship and peace.”

Asked by Joy Wolfe if the memorial ceremony had met her expectations, Ilana said "It has far exceeded them and we feel uplifted by this support"
